Saying Goodbye to Managing Consultant Phyllis Albritton

The Colorado Safety Net Collaborative announced that our managing consultant, Phyllis Albritton, is retiring at the end of 2026 after six years of leading the organization since its founding.

Phyllis’ fierce support for the clinics and the communities has meant that safety net clinics have become an acknowledged part of the solutions we face in healthcare today, not an afterthought.

“It has been a privilege to build this organization alongside a community of clinics that show up every day to serve Coloradans with dignity and without regard to their ability to pay. Their commitment to patients and communities is the foundation of everything CSNC has become,” Phyllis shared.

Under Phyllis’ leadership and with the dedicated effort of countless clinics, community partners, and supporters, the Collaborative has ‌helped define and sustain a critical layer of Colorado’s healthcare safety net. Together, the Collaborative has expanded access to care; strengthened financial sustainability of its member clinics; developed workforce pathways to grow healthcare talent within local communities; and elevated the visibility and voice of safety net clinics and the communities they serve in policy and funding conversations.

“We’re so fortunate to have had Phyllis’s leadership to launch this organization. Thanks to her, we’re well-positioned for this new phase of our work. We’re wishing her all the best in retirement,” shared Bebe Kleinman, board chair.

Over the past four years, the Collaborative’s clinics have taken in 66% more uninsured patients, ensuring more people can access care even in the face of funding cuts. The Collaborative has also partnered with colleague organizations to raise almost one million dollars from foundations, sustaining this work for years to come.

“It has been an honor to support and represent our clinics so that policymakers and foundation leaders know the extent of their service to Colorado,” Phyllis shared.

As the Collaborative enters its next chapter, the strong foundation Phyllis helped to create will allow us to scale our impact, strengthen our long-term sustainability, and deepen our role in advancing access to care across Colorado. We are grateful to Phyllis for her help in establishing CSNC to represent the voice of safety net clinics and the patients we serve.
